The volunteer committee working on the construction for the John C. Girard Community Poolside Pavilion at Leisure Square has set the wheels in motion and look to early 2015 for it to be completed. At a recent planning meeting, the group met with Tim Girard, the Pavilion underwriter who named it in memory of his father, along with the non-profit partners of the Indian River Community Foundation and the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association. The structure and materials have been ordered and the permitting process, which will begin sometime before the end of October will lead to area demotion and eventual construction. The process should take until a ribbon cutting ceremony is held, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2015. Thanks go to a large number of community residents who have already made donations to the project and fundraising efforts will continue with the sale of pavers and other architectural garnishes. For more information on the Pavilion or how to donate or purchase pavers, contact Jeff Matthews at Leisure Square, 770-6500 or Beverly Paris, 234-4412.
