John C. Girard Community Poolside Pavilion

Escaping the powerful summer sun is now slightly easier with the help of the community and Tim Girard. Leisure Square in Vero Beach, Florida now has a poolside pavilion. We are especially grateful for Tim, all the volunteers, and the community that came together to make it our hot summer days just a little bit cooler. Girard Equipment in Action

In this video, we’ll take you on a tour of our production process. Starting at our foundry, located in Fort Pierce, FL, you’ll see how we make our wax molds and pour castings that will be used to create Girard valves. Then it’s over to our machine shop in Vero Beach, FL, where the castings will be machined before heading to our assembly plant next door. Our talented assembly technicians then assemble and test the valves, taking great care to make sure each valve meets our high standards. Once a Girard valve is tested and approved, it heads over to our shipping department, who ensures that all Girard products are protected during transit to our customers.

Samaritan Center: 20th Annual Dinner “Home is Where the Heart Is”

Having opened their doors in 1992, the Samaritan Center located in Gifford, FL helps families travel back from the road of homelessness.  Girard Equipment was pleased to be a part of the annual dinner that not only helps raise awareness but also honors those in our community who lead by example.  Last night the Samaritan Center for Homeless Families honored Bernie and Marge Grall.  How deserving these philanthropic pioneers are indeed; we at GEI wish them many more years of continued happiness and devotion.  As a company with a global presence but a local heart, we aspire to be as influential in the lives of those we encounter no matter the degree of separation.

Girard Equipment New Partner of the Career Pathways to Independence Program

This program, created by the Hibiscus Children’s Center, is designed for kids in the foster care system, ages 15-17 years old, to assist in transitioning into independent living.

Career Pathways to Independence is a program that provides career services to youth in the foster care system who reside at the Hibiscus Children’s Center or in a foster home within Indian River County.  These teens are between the ages of fifteen and seventeen; by partnering with local business owners the program offers three levels of partnership: job shadowing, internship, or part-time employment lasting upwards of ninety days.

Girard Equipment is happy to come on board as a new career pathways partner offering both job shadowing and part-time work.  Currently, the company has brought on board one young man who showed incredible potential and enthusiasm towards the opportunity that allows him to still go to school and get the on-the-job experience needed. “I love working with my hands and learning something new,” the ambitious teen said during the formal interview process.

This is a long-term commitment on behalf of Girard Equipment in relation to their belief in the good work Hibiscus does throughout the community and for the youth of Indian River County.  Come late spring, Mr. Girard is set to speak in front of the teen group to offer them insight on how to be a good employee and business leader. “It’s a program worth participating in, “ says Girard Equipment President Tim Girard.

Round 2 Complete for our Habitat House Build

Saturday February 9th was not too hot and not too cold for the “G” crew which had plenty of roofing and painting to do.  In just four short hours we were able to complete a primer and two final coats to the house’s exterior and complete 3 sides of shingling for the roof.  It feels so good to be able to be a part of this process!

Night of Lights

It was a beautiful Friday night in Vero Beach,FL on December 7th and the Tara Plantation could not have sparkled anymore than it did that evening.  The Night of Lights, an annual event hosted by the Exchange Club of the Treasure Coast, is a soiree complete with wine tastings and silent auction to help raise funds for three local charities committed to the prevention of child abuse.  Girard Equipment was a proud sponsor this year and felt fortunate to help such a great cause.  The event also included a live band for dancing and the most beautiful Christmas backdrop imaginable for sunny Florida.  Great job Exchange Club of the Treasure Coast!

Tis the Season to Give Back!

Being a part of the Indian River Community means a lot to Girard Equipment and the past several months have been truly inspiring for us.  We have been blessed to be part of:

And the list goes on…still we wanted to point out that this is the time of year when we can all reflect on both the good and bad that has occured over the last year; as we did we realized we are fortunate to be able to do what we do and help those we can along the way.  May you all feel inspired by the people and events that surround you and do your part to give back this Holiday Season.

Girard’s Fall Frolic BBQ

Girard’s Fall Frolic BBQ was a complete success!  This past Friday, Nov. 16th, Girard Equipment hosted a fall inspired BBQ to show our apprecation to our great employees and county heads that help make our growth possible.  The delicious menu put on by Tommy Rogers and crew consisted of the most tender and flavorful pulled pork, ribs, and chicken along with all the fixings like baked beans, coleslaw, and corn.  The desserts were not forgotten about…no sir!  Spiced cake for the season and gourmet cookies in a range of flavors were offered along with sweet tea and sodas.  Best of all, we transformed our facility into a fall frenzy with bails of straw, autumn centerpieces, pumpkins, and fall colored balloons.  The weather Florida provided was perfect with a nice breeze and a cool 70 degrees.  Most importantly, everyone had a good time!  Breaking bread with the ones you collaborate with is an important facet to any structurized organization and this BBQ did not disappoint.  We look forward to our upcoming Christmas party and wish all our employees and friends a wonderful holiday season.

Great Event…Thanks NTTC for the show in Louisville

The Girard Equipment guys brainstorming and assisting clients.

The National Tank Truck Carriers hosted their annual show in Louisville, KY this past week.  What a spectacular event with a majority of the industry’s movers and shakers all in attendance.  Girard Equipment has been an associate member since the late 60’s and every year we look forward to attending because of the insight it provides into our craft.  The needs of our clients is always our motivator and being able interact with them on such a personal level during the show is greatly appreciated.

Vice President, Dave Girard spoke twice during the three day event for Bench Testing requirements on behalf of the TTMA and about Hydraulic Clean-Out Valves to promote increased safety. Meanwhile our staff of highly informed sales reps manned the booth including: Brent Beamesderfer (Southwewst Sales), Jim Pflum (NorthEast Sales), John L. Girard (Eastern Coast Sales/Superstar), and Anna Valencia (Director of Marketing based out of Florida).  Never a dull moment at our booth; we provide fun giveaways including custom Girard gum packets, business card holders, and pen caddies.

Thank you to all our customers who came by and shared their support of the Girard Equipment standards and to those who are to become life-long customers moving forward.  Thank you again to the NTTC and all your efforts: Fritz, Dan, Joan, and Monica you all did a wonderful job!
